Must Watch: Alphabeat – Vacation

The danish pop scene is bursting today with the release of Alpahbeat’s newest video for their single “Vacation”. The video is fun and true to form for the band with its bright energy and colorful visuals. One of my favorite things about watching Alphabeat is that it doesn’t matter what the band is doing  it always looks like they are having a good time.

Take a look for yourself and go buy their single on iTunes or Google Play

P.S.: We love seeing  Anders playing the maracas, but bring back the tambourine!

Donkeyboy – City Boy

Im not exactly sure whats up with this Norwegian pop bands name, but with all things considered it really doesn’t make a difference to me what they are called because the truth is that they make really good music. Having been a fan of their 2009 album “Caught In A Life,” I was very happy to learn about the premiere of their new single “City Boy”. Its catchy as hell and makes me wanna dance, which if we are being honest is a must for me.

The video is a little interesting to say the least. I don’t enjoy the video as much as I love the song, but its for sure worth looking at. Have a look for yourself and let me know what you think.

Our Day Will Come – Amy Winehouse Lives On

There are so many things that go through my head when I think of Amy Winehouse and when I heard that a new album was being released the one that became overwhelming was my overall excitement. When most people are remembering her it usually includes the amount of talent and personal anguish this woman had, but for me it has always been her voice that resonates with me the most. Her vocal stylings were so unique and her ability rendered me speechless. I still find it a little hard to swallow when I think about her no longer around making music, so naturally any news about her unreleased music will be bittersweet.

A new single from Amy has been released called “Our Day Will Come” which is reggae re-working of classic 60’s doo wop produced by Salaam Remi and was recorded in May of 2002. Even though it was roughly ten years ago it has the sound of  ”Back To Black” and would have fit perfectly on that album. Maybe the upbeat tone of the song clashed with the mood of her last album and perhaps that’s why we never got to hear it, but hopefully it sets the mood for whats to come on the upcoming release of Lioness: Hidden Treasures which is due for release on December 5th.

Have a listen to the beautiful “Our Day Will Come” and let me know what you think.

Ou Est Le Swimming Pool: ‘Dance The Way I Feel’

I know its been a while but I just thought I would post this song by Ou Est Le Swimming Pool called “Dance The Way I Feel.” Im posting it a little late (like two years late) but its one of my favorite songs.

I first heard about this band, unfortunately, after the lead singer commited suicide last summer. A bit of a sad way to hear about new music I know, but its kind of undeniable how good a song this is. Its off their album The Golden Year. I guess the best way for me to describe their sound would be Emotronic. Its uptempo but Lyrically vulnerable. Just the way I like it.

I love it. You will too.

Be sure to let me know what you think.

Calvin Harris – Bounce ft. Kelis

Im not to sure what the video is all about, but the song is HOTT! I especially love that he put Kelis on this track.

I wasn’t really to sure about Calvin Harris’s last album, but this one sound like its going to be a good one.

Let me know what you guys think?

HAUS REVIEW (Sophie Ellis-Bextor: Make A Scene)

What is there to say about this woman. I guess to put it frankly …..She is my favorite English pop diva and i F***ing Love her !!!…sums it up nicely. Sorry about the swearing, but my Tourette’s syndrome flares up really bad when talk about her. I mean I got into a car accident while listening to her music! Which probably explains the neuropsychiatric disorder, but Ill save that story for another time.

“Make A Scene” is the fourth album from Sophie Ellis-Bextor and the first to be released from her own label. It very well could be my favorite one yet, but im finding it hard to decide between this and “Trip The Light Fantastic.” which was my first introduction to Sophie.  The best thing about this album for is how much she has tuned up the dance volume. With collaborators like Calvin Harris, Ed Harcourt, Cathy Dennis, Armin van Buuren, Metronomy, The Hoosiers, Groove Armada and Richard X, ”Make A Scene” is pure dance pop at its finest. Every synth is the perfect complement to her soothing voice, which I think is showcased best on her new single “Starlight.” I would describe it as a moody, dance pop anthem with an 80′s esque vibe to it. Its one of my favorites off the album.

Have a listen for yourself and let me know what you think.

Another stand out track for me is “Cant Fight This Feeling.” It came out a little while ago, but I still think it deserves some attention.

This next song I find myself listening to a lot and is a track she collaborated on with the Freemasons called “Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)” Here is the video for that one.

Over all the album is looking to be her best yet and with other stellar tracks like “Off and On,” “Under your Touch,” ” Magic,” and “Syncronized” its sure to be a solid success for her. “Make A Scene is due out June 6.”

PS. I really hope she decides to release this album here in the states.

Watch – Lady GaGa: ‘Judas’ (Video Premiere)

I died, was reborn, brought back to life, and baptized. I love this video!

Video Premiere – Do it in the AM (Frankmusik)

I love this video…so will you! That is all!

Do It In The AM – FrankMusik

Last night saw the release of the artwork for Frankmusik’s new single “Do It In The AM” and now his label Cherrytree Records has debuted the single itself. I love it! Let me know what you think.

FrankMusik is my favorite male pop artist hands down. There hasn’t been a song this guy releases that I haven’t listened to obsessively. I cant wait for the album. His first,”Complete Me,”  is still an album I listen to constantly.

I would say that the best thing about him is the relationship he has with his fans. He is always keeping us updated on twitter and giving away lots of music. I Cant wait for more people to hear his music!

HAUS REVIEW (Ultraviolet Sound – UVS)

Ultraviolet Sound is one of my favorite bands hands down! Ive been a fan of the lead singer, Sarah Hudson, since i first saw her as a solo act on season 1 of Project Runway. These days, however she can be found in the eltro-pop outfit UltraViolet Sound with band mate Sami Diament. Together they released their first full length record back in 2008 with sponsorship from Adidas (which was amazing by the way) and did pretty well considering they didn’t have the backing of a label.

Now UVS is back with a strong follow up with their self titled album. This whole album has been on full rotation on my iPod for the last couple of weeks and gets better and better with every listen. There is not one song on it that I skip. Which is rare for me, so let me give you a breakdown of some of my favorite songs off the album to give a better idea of what i’m talking about.

  • Suck My Kiss” – This was the first single and was a good example of how their sound had been given a more polished edge. (Still edgy tho). The track starts slow and then….well you have a listen:

  • “F*#k’d Up” – The Title pretty much says it all! Its a huge song with plenty of bass to make you want to get up and dance. I imagine this song would sound really amazing in the club, which makes sense considering thats what they are talking about. Oh and dont worry if you dont know how to spell the name of the song. You get enough practice listening to the track.  Have a listen for yourself!

  • Dead on the Dancefloor” – A song off of thier first album that was and still is a good favorite of mine. Its classic UVS in my opinion with the heavy dance beat/electro infusion, mixed with Sarah’s vocals. Plus the hook is sooooooo infectious.
  • Now Or Never” – Probably my favorite track to listen to while driving on the freeway with the windows down. It has a really cool break in it that automatically seems to put my windows down.

So all and all the album is a very fun, dance heavy, electro infused, 80′s inspired, party album that I think everyone should go out and get.

If for some reason I haven’t convinced you then you can go F*#k yourself (J/K) and have a listen to the album buy clicking HERE or you can watch the video megamix below.

P.S. – I cant believe I didn’t mention that “Got That Feeling” is totally my SHHHIIIIIT right now!
